Un des 500 exemplaires numérotés sur Hollande Van Gelder ( n° 167 ), après 300 sur Japon. Voilà la principale oeuvre conjecturale de Claude Farrère, écrite sous la double influence de Herbert George Wells et Jack London, mais à l'inverse des 2 auteurs , les sympathies de Claude Farrère ne vont pas aux ouvriers-esclaves de sa cité future, mais à celui qui les vainc grâce à un rayon permettant de désagréger instantanément la matière. Il s'agit donc plutôt d'une contre-utopie réactionnaire qui vaut la peine d’être lue. Il est aussi à noter que ce texte semblerait avoir inspiré Aldous Huxley pour son roman " Le Meilleur des Mondes ". Edition originale illustrée en superbe état. Précieux exemplaire enrichi d'un portrait de l'auteur, en tirage argentique d'époque, sur carton fort, au format 13,5 x 19,5 cm.
