Volume with light edge wear and some small splash marks to the first few pages else unmarked. Price-intact DJ is soiled with a few chips and small tears. Original black cloth with orange titles to the spine in the first printing dustwrapper. A near fine copy the binding square and firm bright and fresh. The contents with some spotting to the closed text block edge and with the publisher's 'Archive Copy' stamp to the title page and front pastedown are otherwise clean throughout. Complete with the very lightly rubbed dustwrapper that has a 'File Copy' stamp to the lower front panel and the publication year "38" in ink to the upper corner of the rear panel. The spine is just a touch faded however this is a very bright and crisp example. Correct publisher's price of 7/6 net to the spine. A scarce title. A detective story 'introducing Mr. Doty'. Bound in black cloth with titles in black and gilt on the spine upon red and gold backgrounds. Square tight and clean throughout with just a touch of softness to spine ends and a hint of toning to page edges. Very attractive unclipped dust-jacket $2.50 has some tiny chips to extremities and a couple of tiny edge-tears. Still quite fresh and bright and presents very well. Though not marked in any way this came directly from the library of H. Lawrence Hoffman who illustrated the dust-jacket. His son David Hoffman the noted documentary filmmaker has signed a statement with information about his father the artist and attesting that the book was from his library. A copy of this is included.
