Ces ouvrages contiennent les commentaires des plus grands érudits de l'époque. L'éditeur Pierre JANNET n'a reculé devant aucun sacrifice pour lancer sa collection. Drawn upon Viollet le-Duc's personal experiences during the Franco-Prussian war and his interest in the techniques of siege warfare. In the original French. Illustrated by the author with eight colour plates maps and other illustrations in text.Eugene Viollet-le-Duc was an influential French architect and author known for restoring many prominent medieval landmarks in France particularly those damaged during the French Revolution. Included among his major works are the restorations of Notre-Dame de Paris the Basilica of Saint-Denis the medieval walls of the city of Carcassonne. He also planned much of the construction of the Statue of Liberty. In a quarter straight-up grain morocco binding over cloth covered boards doubleur endpapers and gilt to the edges. Externally smart with some shelf wear and rubbing to the boards and spine minor loss to the rear board. Internally firmly bound. Light spotting scattered to the occasional leaf.
