A small quarto measuring 9 5/8" by 6 1/4" with the black leather title label missing from the spine. Without a dust jacket; however the book is contained in a very good paper covered slip case which is worn at the edges of its opening end. This copy is identified as number 1280 on the last page of text out of only 1500 copies printed for the members of The Limited Editions Club. Additionally this copy is signed by the illustrator Hans Alexander Mueller. 237 pages of text illustrated by wood cuts by Hans Alexander Mueller. With an introduction by Christopher Morley. A very good copy with some fading to the spine extremities a bit rubbed some soiling and a few small stains to the cloth; internally some light scattered foxing rear hinge starting but a tight and sturdy copy free of any repairs or restoration. Kidnapped is a historical fiction novel that is presented as the semi-autobiographical adventure tales of David Balfour whose surname is Stevenson's mother's maiden name. The novel is set in the aftermath of the Scottish Jacobite uprisings and is loosely based around real characters and events. It is considered the sequel to the author's bestseller Treasure Island. .
