No inscriptions or marks. A very clean very tight copy with bright unmarked boards and no bumping to corners. Dust jacket not price clipped or creased with sunning to upper edge and spine and slight rubbing to top of spine. 288pp. In 1816 the French frigate Medusa was shipwrecked off the coast of West Africa. Thus began the shipwreck scandal of the century, although the full stories only came out later, of mutiny, prolonged suffering, internecine slaughter and eventual cannibalism. As the author shows, this was not an isolated incident of human aberration but a vital pattern of human behavious under stress and a lesson for mankind in self-understanding.
