The book tells of the Princes upbringing and life at court. In hiss youth he was a cross-dresser and smoked hashish. Impelled by patriotism and love for the Romanoffs he and others ploted the assassination of the monk Rasputin. The book describes how they poisoned Rasputin shot him in the chest and left him for dead only to have Rasputin revive and ursue his assailants into the courtyard before he died.
