Like many others before and after he descended the Ohio River and struck out north and west to give great impetus to the early settlement of the southern parts of several midwestern states. A map of Woods's trip from Baltimore to Illinois was drawn for this edition. The original title page also is reproduced London: 1822 along with other drawings and reproductions from historical records. .
