Book is clean you can see stitching in places leather on corners and spine is very worn and torn at head of spine. This is a souvenir book published by the author that has portraits of all the employees of the Bureau of Animal Industry from 1884-1900 and then has a short biography on each of them. There is also a history of this bureau of the government the author was the first Chief and stayed until 1905. There are over 250 pages of portraits most with one or two pictures but some have nine people shown. Has a note on a front free page from a former owner giving it to a library in 1934 there is a library stamp on that page but nowhere else inside or out.; Ex-Library; 4to 11" - 13" tall; 387 pages . I did not make any remarks reflecting personally on Dr. Sproul or the Board of Regents at the University of California relative to the Communist oath. The statements attributed to me were those of a newscaster." Boldly signed in full. Interesting and worth further research. Hutchins 1899-1977 was the wunderkind of educators having already served as dean of Yale Law School 1927-29 when named president of University of Chicago in 1929! Which post he held until 1945 then named chancellor and serving until 1951. With Mortimer J. Adler he introduced the famed "Great Books" program eliminated intercollegiate football and made other radical curriculum changes; he authored many volumes on education issues and served in other influential positions including president of the Center for the Study of Democratic Institutions which he founded in 1969.
