Each volume is bound in full cloth printed in black and blocked in silver or gold with a classic image of the detective showing his pipe and heavy overcoat and his head bent in thought. The rare dustwrapper is near VG with loss at the spine ends just affecting the lettering with a slither of loss to the bottom edge of the front panel and with a chip to the left-hand corner of the back panel affecting the blurb. The spine of the dustwrapper is mildly faded but with the lettering still clear. Two short stories: 'The Lock at Charenton' and 'Maigret Returns'. A scarce wartime Maigret first edition.
