The novel has been regarded as a sentimental masterpiece and earned Saintine renown and the work became a classic of French literature. In a full calf binding with gilt stamping to the spine and board edges. Patches of rubbing to the spine and extremities. A few marks to boards. Light rubbing to the joints. Many spots to the rear board. Front endpapers have been removed. Internally firmly bound. Pages are age toned.
