The sale catalogue of the final library of the great bibliophile and literary figure Charles Nodier 1780-1844. Author book collector and since 1823 librarian of the Bibliothèque de l'Arsenal Nodier was the progenitor of French romantic literature and of the kind of bibliophily practiced in France to the present day; he was also an unrivalled seller of books by auction. In 1838 he declared that God had made him rich enough five times to buy books and five times so poor that he had to sell them again. Nice copy. 1244 lots including MSS.
