80128 — Five typed letters signed TLS and two handwritten postcards from the renowned American husband-and-wife writing team best known for their ambitious eleven-volume Story of Civilization 1935-75. Dated between 1966 and 1980 the correspondence is addressed to Robert and Blanche Campbell who for half a century ran Campbell's Bookstore one of the West's largest across from the UCLA campus. The letters are typed on Will Durant's letterhead 6 1/4" x 9" featuring the couple's Los Angeles address; two are accompanied by their original mailing envelope. Dated November 9 1966 the earliest mentions The Age of Voltaire published the year prior. The two postcards 5 1/2" x 3 1/2" were written in Stratford-upon-Avon in 1966 and in Cannes in 1968 respectively. The latter mentions work on their Dual Autobiography which was published nearly a decade letter in 1977. In addition there is a small slip of paper 3" x 5" signed by Will and Ariel Durant. Light creasing for mailing to the letters with a small clip to the top right corner of the first letter. All the materials are clean and quite legible. unknown
