Heinrich Hoffmann 1809-1894 although a successful psychiatrist is remembered primarily for his children's stories - Struwwelpeter his first book being one of the most famous. <br/><br/>While the stories may strike us today as somewhat cruel or overly moral Herr Hoffmann's contemporaries saw the world differently than we and they enjoyed their humour; the stories were so popular they were regularly reprinted and translated into many different languages.
