Conservata la bella brossura figurata a colori di Samivel. 4 tavv. a colori f.t. di Samivel, di cui una all'antiporta, e numerose illustrazioni in b.n. a p. pagina e intercalate n.t. dello stesso artista. Ottimo esemplare. Leggere ingialliture. Reimpressione di questo racconto per ragazzi a soggetto sciistico edito per la prima volta nel 1940 ed elegantemente illustrato da Samivel (Paul Gayet-Tancrède, Parigi, 1907-Grenoble, 1992), singolarissima figura di pittore, disegnatore, scrittore, cineasta, alpinista ed esploratore (nel 1948 accompagnò Paul-Emile Victor nella prima spedizione francese in Groenlandia) il cui pseudonimo deriva da un personaggio dei "Pickwick Papers" di Dickens. "Samivel est une personnalité exceptionnelle et un des plus grands artistes inspirés par la montagne" (Perret). Guy de Larigaudie (Parigi, 1908-Musson, 1940), scrittore, scout ed esploratore, compì in gioventù un avventuroso giro del mondo e, nel 1938, percorse ben 22.000 chilometri in automobile da Parigi a Saigon su una vecchia Ford modello T, impresa che catturò l'attenzione di migliaia di persone in tutto il mondo e che ispirò al de Larigaudie dei resoconti autobiografici. Morì l'11 maggio 1940, all'indomani dell'offensiva tedesca nelle Ardenne, presso Musson, e sul suo corpo fu ritrovata una lettera che diceva: "J'avais tellement la nostalgie du ciel et voilà que la porte va bientôt s'ouvrir… J'avais rêvé de devenir un saint et d'être un modèle pour les louveteaux, les scouts et les routiers".
