Lovely book plate to front pastedown and tanning to front endpapers due to tragic newspaper clipping laid in and dated February 24 1942 telling of his death in exile in Brazil by suicide with his wife. Clipping includes the text of his farewell message. Split at title page with mull showing common to this edition. Tanning to top page ends and some tiny spots to front and bottom page ends. Tiny tear to top corner of one page. In scarce unclipped jacket $3.00 with splitting to flap creases and one spine crease. Chipping mostly to spine ends and corners flaking to all edges and nicks chips mostly to top edges some small marks to panels and small mositure stains to tops of same near spine.</p> Viking hardcover
