Diese anfangs mit einfachsten Versuchen entwickelte Theorie widersprach der um die Jahrhundertwende vorherrschenden Auffassung von biochemischen Oxidationsvorgängen und führte mit anderen Biochemikern zu einigen heftigen Diskussionen. Im Laufe der Jahre wurde Wielands Dehydrierungs-Theorie in praktisch allen Stoffwechselvorgängen bestätigt und brachte ihm den Ruf eines herausragenden Biochemikers ein. Heinrich Otto Wieland 1877-1957 erhielt 1927 den Nobelpreis für Chemie "Für seine Forschungen über die Zusammensetzung der Gallensäure und verwandter Substanzen". unknown

1971NGAB0004<p>With True Patriot Love Wieland whimsically played with the form appearance and purpose of a Canadian government publication about arctic flowers. She added line drawings photographs maps handwritten text and a Canadian flag to the original scientific prose creating a unique hardbound collage. She sewed some of her additions into the book leaving long threads across parts of the page. Wieland's original bookwork was photographed printed and sold as a catalog to accompany her exhibition of the name at the National Gallery of Canada. This is a near-fine copy of a rare Wieland treasure. Exhibition poster map and brochure are in excellent condition in original sleeve at the back.
