1880332<p>Condition: Very Good. This Rossetti-edited volume has an original owner's name on a fly leaf. The gilt impressed cloth cover shows little wear and all three sides of page edges are gilt covered. The gilt-impressed spine is clear but shows wear top and bottom. The volume is free of marks and has 5 etchings spaced through the book suggesting Rossetti's Pre-Raphaelite orientation. Copies of this volume appear to be rare. A copy in Fair condition is offered at $50 and a copy at Very Good for $125. This copy with tight binding and clean pages without foxing is still handsome.</p> John W. Lovell hardcover

Thomas Jefferson Hogg was a good friend of Percy Bysshe Shelley and some critics have noted a resemblance between the leading character of his picaresque novel Haimatoff with Shelley. Shelley's positive review was originally published in The Critical Review in 1814. In original paper covered boards. Externally smart with some bumping to the extremities and the head and tail of spine. Handling marks to boards and spine. Internally firmly bound. Watermark of the Fleur de Lis colophon of Van Gelder visible to the top of most pages. Heavy offsetting to the recto of front endpaper and to the verso of rear endpaper and pastedown. Newspaper articles regarding literary criticism of Shelley loosely inserted before postcript have offsett to pages 56 and the title page for postscript.
