1837011001Edinburgh: Blackie & Sons 1837. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Very Good. Hill D. O. engravings of. Uncommon complete set of the "new" edition of Hogg's works - certainly after 1837 perhaps as late as 1860s but decorated cloth bindings are more typrical of the 1840s - uniformly bound in narrow ribbed cordovan/brown cloth elaborately blind stamped with harp in ivy surround gilt stamped front cover and elaborate ivy-pattern and titles in gilt to spine. Each volume with binder's polished yellow endpapers some with Blackie's publisher list front some back some not. Corners bumped worn and minor loss on some spines a wee cocked and some show minor cloth loss spine tips. Spines a tad faded but uniformly so. A fine exemplar of publisher's decorated cloth of the period and seldom found uniform in such a large set of works. Blackie & Sons hardcover books
