The pair had been long friends once going to a congress of writers in Ukraine together. Sadoul was a French journalist and early film critic and historian of cinema. He wrote an impressive encyclopedic work 'Histoire générale du cinéma' which was translated to English. His wife Ruta contributed to his work and from a previous marriage was the mother of the journalist Yvonne Baby.In the original glassine.In the original French.'Bonsoir Therese' is the first novel in French by Russian-born author Ella Triolet. The novel follows a poor young beautiful and mysteries young woman Therese who is living alone in Paris during the 1930s.Triolet emigrated to France at the outset of the Russian Civil War. She was the first woman to win the Prix Goncourt for her novel 'Le premier accroc coûte 200 francs'. In the original publisher's paper wraps in the original glassine. Externally smart. Light wear to the spine which is age-toned. A few light spots and handling marks to the wraps. Front hinge is starting but firm. Glassine is smart with minor edge wear to the head and tail of the spine and a touch of age-toning. Internally firmly bound. Pages are age-toned and clean.
