This is a sale catalog for an auction held by Guernsey's at the Puck Building in New York on December 12 and 13, 1987. Forrest J Ackerman (1916- 2008) was an American collector of science fiction books and movie memorabilia and a science fiction fan. He was, for over seven decades, one of science fiction's staunchest spokesmen and promoters. Ackerman was a Los Angeles, California-based magazine editor, science fiction writer and literary agent, a founder of science fiction fandom and possibly the world's most avid collector of genre books and movie memorabilia. He was the editor and principal writer of the American magazine Famous Monsters of Filmland, as well as an actor and producer (Vampirella). Short texts by Forrest Ackerman, Steven Spielberg, Stephen King, and Ray Bradbury. The auction was held over two full days, and was organized into sections, by types of material. The lots are all numbered, but not sequentially. There is an 'A' group, also an 'M' group, a 'C' group, an 'R' group etc. So probably close to 1000 lots in all. Many lots illustrated in black & white, also a color plate section at the front with over 30 lots illustrated. There are no price estimates or prices realized sheets. 9" square, unpaginated, about 150 pages. This book will be securely packed and shipped with tracking.
