The forth edition of this much reprinted edition of Ovid's Metamorphoses which had first appeared in 1717 & was editied by Garth with Dryden the providing much of the translating. It was to become the standard text of Ovid's Magnum Opus in English. The plates consist of a portrait of Queen Caroline consort of King George II as the dedicatee plus 15 plates showing scenes from the poems each dedicated to a different English noblewoman. a different English noblewoman.
