Set in a page of descripive Italian text page 85 with decorative woodcut headpiece and historiated initial. Single page. folio text to verso. Good impression. good margins. Minor dampstaining to upper corners of leaf. The battle of Lepanto between the Christians and the Turks took place in 1571 one year before Porcacchi first published his Isolario so was very topical at the time. The two fleets met near the islands called by the Venetians "Curzolari"modern day Oxia and even called the victory that of the Battle of Curzolari hence the title on this map. Porcacchi also mentions the ancient history of the area and the earlier battle of Actium between Octavian and Cleopata with Mark Anthony which took place near Prevesa and where was built the Roman town of Nicopoli to celebrate the victory.
