Signed. scarce first edition of van der post's first novel. tipped in original van der post signature on the title page in green ink. the original boards are worn faded and a little marked. some foxing affecting early and late pages but little in the body of the book. a small stamp at the rear stating that this is the 'colonial cloth edition' the bookplate of a previous owner is under the front board. it is rather attractive and was from the collection of A.A. Fullalove.the binding is strong.the original jacket is from a 2nd edition published many years later. it is worn and marked and there are small tears.it presents quite well in cellophane.
