1870009958New York/ Chicago: Ivison Blakeman Taylor & Co./ S.C. Griggs 1870. 'New and revised edition' . Black Cloth. VG for age & Genre. 14.5 Cm x 22.5 Cm. xii543; ex-Andover-Harvard Theological Library with their platediscard and release stamps to front pastedown another owner's small gilt label top same front gutter expertly repaired with white tae but gutter to verso front endpaper remains partly opened though secure blue lib.number verso t.p. remainder of text-block & rear endpaper & pastedown clean tight and completely unmarked top edge reasonably dust-free; covers appear clean and unworn bar routine corner-rubbing but on examination it is clear that the spine has been expertly relaid on black cloth presumably by the library and there is a small white lib.label ghost to lower spine. Despite faults an excellent copy of this treatise by Hickock an atypical U.S. 'mental & moral philosopher' of the time whose complex position was a kind of ultimately religious neo-Kantianism as far as I can figure. He also authored a companion 'Empirical Psychology'. Apaprently extremely rare with no copies listed on major web-sites at time of listing. The copyright entry date verso t.p. is 1861 but other sources give 1st ed. as 1849 his first book. Note: quoted non-UK shipping rates are calculated for 500-700 gram net weight cost will be modified up or down as appropriate outside this range.

Ivison, Blakeman, Taylor & Co./ S.C.
