Vellum binding darkened; spotting and occasional browning in vol. 1 with spotting and extensive browning in vol. 2. Dampstain to lower left corner first 4 leaves vol. 1 and rear cover vol. 2. Front hinges open on both volumes with cords holding rear hinges cracked but less so. Crown of vol. 2 pulled. The books are otherwise structurally sound. Good condition. Bookplates of T.J. Phillips-Jodrell no other signs of ownership. Full vellum 2 vols in folio 365mm. Vol 1: 4 A-Ttt6 Vvv4 1= half-title recto frontis verso; Vvv4 blank 9 double-page maps. Vol. 2: ¶2 A-Bbb6 Bbb6 blank 5 double-page maps. Pagination: v.1 20 786; v. 2 2 787-1338 22--Index. Clüver may be considered the father of historical geography in modern times. He also published a historical geography of Germany. His Introductio in Universam Geographiam was a widely used textbook with many editions over the next century.
