8vo., Second Impression thus, with a chromolithograph frontispiece, 10 fine chromolithograph plates, 27 line illustrations in the text, numerous head- and tail-pieces, and pictorial endpapers, neat inscription on frontispiece recto; green cloth, upper board blocked in gilt, gilt back, a very good, bright, clean copy in price-clipped dustwrapper. Anthony Gross was selected as the artist for the first illustrated edition of Galsworthy's dynastic classic, first published in the previous year. The colour plates, drawn by Gross in six colours, are printed by Cowell of Ipswich using their proprietary 'Plastocowell' technique. The elegant typography is by John Lewis. Very scarce, especially in this condition
