FRANCO (Benevento 1515 - Roma,1570), poi segretario dell'Aretino, fu poeta sempre originale, pieno di sé e piuttosto incline all'invettiva che alla lode; giunto giovanissimo a Venezia nel 1536, per farsi ben accogliere, pubblicò il "Tempio di Amore", copiando di sana pianta (forse da una copia manoscritta recata con sé?) lo sconosciuto "Tempio di Cupido" del napoletano Iacopo Campanile detto CAPANIO (appena edito a Alife, 1536), sostituendo i nomi delle adulate dame napoletane con quelli delle veneziane. Opera in bella legatura ed in ottime condizioni di conservazione.
