Owner's signature at top of flyleaf dated 1942 otherwise clean. Very small marker mark facing half title page and again on page following title page. Book is solid tight and clean. Dust jacket spine is toned a little chipped a little at corners and at head and tail of spine. Jacket has a short closed tear at bottom of spine and rubbed a little along edges. Very Good/Very Good. The price clipped dust jacket has edge nicks tiny edge tears some small chips missing and some toning to the bottom rear spine joint. The spine of the dust jacket has noticeable fading. "John Ernst Steinbeck Jr. February 27 1902 December 20 1968 was an American author of 27 books including 16 novels six non-fiction books and two collections of short stories. He is widely known for the comic novels Tortilla Flat 1935 and Cannery Row 1945 the multi-generation epic East of Eden 1952 and the novellas Of Mice and Men 1937 and The Red Pony 1937. The Pulitzer Prize-winning The Grapes of Wrath 1939 is considered Steinbeck's masterpiece and part of the American literary canon.
