Soit un ensemble de 40 fascicules de cette revue satirique sur les 77 que compte cette revue. Henri de Rochefort débuta comme journaliste au Charivari. Il lance La Lanterne en mai 1868, revue populaire et la plus violente des hebdomadaires satiriques de la fin du Second Empire. Le premier numéro eut un succès prodigieux qui ne fit que s'accroître jusqu'au 77e et dernier de la première série. Après La Commune Henri de Rochefort est condamné et déporté.
