He wrote several satirical works and is best remembered for his farcical writings including Trente et Quarante. Trente et Quarante has been adapted into a 1945 film directed by Gilles Grangier. In a half morocco binding. Externally smart with rubbing to the head of the spine and the paper covered boards. Internally firmly bound. Pages are slightly age toned due to paper used. Boards decorated with a pattern of figures 30 and 40 with a border frieze. This pattern is repeated on the green endpapers. Spine uniformly faded to tawny. Light rubbing to corners. One nick at head. Very fine copy perfectly fresh. Art critic and political journalist his comic and satirical novels earned him great renown notably Le roi des montagnes. Le Trente et quarante is a game around which loves will form and dissolve. This vaudeville later became a musical comedy filmed by Grangier in 1946 with Martine Carol.
