Book measures 3.5 inches wide x 5.25 tall. Fine. There is a small slash mark correcting a typo on the second to last line of the final stanza. One of Prokosch's famous Butterfly Books. Rare. 1904172164堀切玉蔵. Horikiri Gyokuzō. Meiji 37 1904. Colour woodblock 34 x 25 cm a small closed tear now repaired on the upper edge lower right corner chipped not affecting the image. A lovely Japanese print designed for children. This beautiful wood block print depicts flowers and butterflies in 25 panels. Omocha-e Japanese toy prints were used as early learning toys for children as they featured various aspects of nature and society. On this print different types of flowers including iris morning glory and hydrangeas and butterflies are shown. These prints were designed for children to cut the panels out to play with. Meyer was the founder of the Indiana Botanic Gardens botanist writer illustrator publisher and supplier to the pharmaceutical industry. VERY GOOD in Good dust jacket protected in a removable archival cover. The book itself shows just a touch of shelf rubbing along the edges the gutters are evenly toned otherwise the binding is strong and tight the text is clean and unmarked and the boards remain bright and distinct.
