This is the same glue used to fix the colors of enhanced engravings from this period.<br />The last page features 11 butterflies made from natural leaves and flowers.</p>

A lovely Japanese print designed for children. This beautiful wood block print depicts flowers and butterflies in 25 panels. Omocha-e Japanese toy prints were used as early learning toys for children as they featured various aspects of nature and society. On this print different types of flowers including iris morning glory and hydrangeas and butterflies are shown. These prints were designed for children to cut the panels out to play with. Bunnell's book describes the discovery of an iconic American landmark and one episode in what is sometimes called the California genocide. This copy is inscribed by Bunnell to a fellow soldier.
