Spotted Good.<br/><br/> Mason a lawyer would be elected to the Ohio State Senate in 1829 and then to Congress in 1834 where he served several terms as an anti-Jackson Whig. In this rare pamphlet he addresses General Duncan McArthur who had brought an action of ejectment "against Reynolds and Van Meter in the Court of Common Pleas for Champaign county." McArthur claimed ownership of land between the Scioto and Little Miami Rivers pursuant to military warrants granted him by the State of Virginia. Mason represented McArthur at trial. Mason defends himself against McArthur's criticisms of his trial conduct. <br/> McArthur's case was important. The U.S. Supreme Court decided it in 1829. See Reynolds vs. McArthur 27 U.S. 417 1829 opinion by Chief Justice Marshall. When Virginia ceded lands to the United States in 1784 it had reserved to itself the area between the Scioto and Little Miami to distribute military bounties. McArthur held title to land pursuant to such a Virginia military land warrant. The Supreme Court held that McArthur's claim of ownership was superior to the purported title of persons holding under a sale made by the United States. <br/> We accompany this pamphlet with a government report IN SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES. New edition second edition. Revised and expanded this work discusses new surgical practises surgical dressings and operations of the early 19th century. Written in the original French. With the binder label to the tail of the front pastedown of C. Cooper & Co Ltd. Written by three medical professionals R. B. Sabatier L. J. Sanson and L. J. Begin each of whom were highly regarded medical professionals and surgeons. Ink inscription to the reverse of the title page which reads 'Birmingham Library 14 Days Forfeiture 2d per day over.' In a full cloth binding. Externally generally smart. Light rubbing to the head and tail of the spine resulting in a small amount of fraying. Large crack to the front joint with patches of rubbing to the rear joint. Patches of rubbing also to the extremities. Small white flecks spots to the tail of the front board perhaps paint. Light offsetting to the front and rear endpapers with a small binders label to the tail of the front pastedown. Internally firmly bound. Pages are generally clean with the odd spot and handling mark heavier to the title page. Small amount of loss to the tail of the half-title page. Ink inscription to the reverse of the title page. D'abord disciple de Broussais, Louis-Charles Roche (1790-1875) fut l'un des premiers à revenir à la "médecine hippocratique" et joua un rôle pondérateur dans la querelle qui eut lieu entre Broussais et Laennec. Toute la partie médicale de cet ouvrage est de lui. Louis-Joseph Sanson (1790-1841) fut nommé en 1836 professeur de clinique chirurgicale en remplacement de Dupuytren dont il fut l'élève. Les Nouveaux éléments, dont il a rédigé toute la partie chirurgicale, est son principal ouvrage. Il est réputé pour son procédé de lithotomie recto-vésicale, décrit et publié par son maître en 1836. Bon exemplaire, malgré quelques frottements sur les couffes et coupes. Rousseurs claires. Couverture rigide
