1744601L5London: J Roberts 1744. Paperback. Very Good. 7" by 4.5". None. A politically fuelled eighteenth century pamphlet written anonymously and addressed to the 'Whigs and Well-Affected Tories'. This work charges that criticism of George II strengthens the Pretender's James Stuart cause. Two editions of this work appeared in this year by the same publisher. This work is a copy of ESTC no. N24599 and has the ornament on the title page of a face flanked by two cupids. There was another edition of 1744 issued by J Roberts and another copy printed in Dublin for Joshua Kinnier. This edition is closely cropped to the bottom edge in some places affecting the occasional catch-word and printer's signature mark. The author of this work is unknown. To the entry for the 1745 edition on the ESTC it is noted that there is a manuscript note 'By Mr. Gordon'. In paper wraps. Externally generally smart. Loss to the paper wraps at the head of front wrap. Minor chipping to the extremities. Several light tidemarks to the front endpaper. Internally firmly bound. Pages are generally bright with light scattered spots to the first and last few pages and the odd spots to textblock. Very Good J Roberts paperback

A scarce and highly collectible children's paper theatre set based on Disney's Pinocchio issued in Denmark and designed to be assembled into a miniature stage with characters scenery and props. Complete example in original box the box has been repaired with tape. This is a delightful survivor of mid-century Disneyana and toy-theatre publishing appealing both for its interactive format and its strong display value. Complete sets are considerably harder to find than loose or incomplete examples and the original box adds to the appeal despite the repair. Box measures: 270 by 335mm 10¾ by 13¼ inches. .
