First written in Yiddish in 1925 and later translated into Hebrew by the author. Rachel Feigenberg (1885-1972) , known as Rahel Imri after moving to Israel, was a Jewish writer and journalist. Many of her novels are tragic and focus on the brutality of Jewish life in Europe. She survived the Ukrainian pogroms and later wrote about the anatomy of mass murder.
