1932355490719940London: Herbert Jenkins 1932. First Edition. Hard Cover. Dust Jacket. London: Herbert Jenkins 1932. First UK Edition. Publisher's orange boards with black lettering and designs. A former owner's neat - rather faint - name to the front free end-paper otherwise a fine copy. In the RARE D/W priced 7/6 net on green label to the spine. The D/W is the correct first issue with 26 titles by J. S. Fletcher to the front flap and 14 titles to the rear flap by Wyndham Martyn. The D/W is VG indeed with small chips to the spine ends not affecting any lettering and with a small chip with associated creasing to the bottom/middle of the back panel not affecting any lettering. The D/W has several insignificant short closed tears which do not detract from what is overall a very nice bright and un-faded copy of one of the scarcer PGW first editions in our experience from the 1930's. McIlvaine A47A. Photographs/scans available upon request. Herbert Jenkins hardcover
1928355490717537London: Herbert Jenkins 1928. First Edition. Hard Cover. Dust Jacket. First UK Edition. Publisher's bright orange cloth with black letters and decorations. Offsetting to both the front and rear end-papers some fading to the spine and also to the extremities of the boards overall a VG copy. IN THE VERY RARE D/W priced 7/6 net to the spine as called for. Although the D/W is correctly priced at 7/6 we believe that it may be a First Edition second state. The first state " should show Meet Mr Mulliner at 7/6d to the front flap rather than 2/6d as is shown here. NB: The D/W remains extremely rare in both first and second states. The spine of the D/W is faded from salmon-pink to a paler orange and there is minor shallow chipping at the spine ends and folds not affecting any lettering. Particularly scarce in D/W this is a true PGW rarity especially in collectible condition. McIlvaine A39a. Scans invited. Herbert Jenkins hardcover
1930355490717538London: Herbert Jenkins 1930. First Edition. Hard Cover. Dust Jacket. First UK Edition. Publisher's orange cloth with black lettering and decorations. Offsetting to both the front and rear end-papers foxing to the page block edges some fading to the extremities of the boards and a couple of small bumps overall a VG copy. In the RARE D/W priced 7/6 net to the spine as called for. The D/W is the correct first issue. The D/W is spine-faded with minor chipping at the head and tail of the spine not affecting any lettering and with a few small nicks and tears. McIlvaine A42b. Scarce in the first issue D/W. Scans invited. Herbert Jenkins hardcover
1909355490715966London: Newnes 1909. First Edition. Hard Cover. First UK Edition. Publisher's illustrated card covers. Contains 4 PGW stories 3 of which are published here for the first time. This is a VG copy foxed to the page block edges and the early/late pages of the book. There is surface loss to the spine 1.2 cm at the top and 2.2 cm at the bottom which now show the underlying webbing however most of the original spine is still present. McIlvaine E 126. Inexplicably uncommon the only other copy that I can find for sale had the spine replaced by a later linen spine. This copy is un-touched original and rare. Newnes hardcover
1931355490717323London: Herbert Jenkins 1931. First Edition. Hard Cover. Dust Jacket. First UK Edition. First printing stated. Orange-Red cloth-covered boards with black lettering and marginal rule on the front cover black lettering and Publisher's device on the spine. A VG nice clean and bright copy with the usual browning to both end-papers. In the RARE D/W priced 3/6 net to the spine as called for. The D/W is also in VG condition and has had a neat repair to the base of the spine by a skilled paper conservator replacing the publisher's name. The rest of the D/W is entirely untouched with a couple of closed edge tears to the top edge of the front panel and a touch of fraying at the head of the spine. Shows well. Scans invited.
