This fascinating work was first published in 1822 to immediate popular appeal capturing as it does a number of contemporary sources for the Waverley novels. A corrected and expanded second edition appeared in 1825. The present work the last edition was published at the behest of the author's son and namesake and printed at the Leadenhall Press.
