Mestrovic writes to Wolff in his letter: "It seems that you and I share some similar concerns about Sociology's role in a world that seems to be on the brink of disaster as well as an openness to pessimism as a counter-balance to boosterish optimism." Mestrovic continues by consoling Wolff about the death of his wife and then talks about a meeting with american philosopher and sociologist David Riesman in which they talked about the role of the USA in the war with Iraq First Gulf War. After completing his great work Le Suicide in 1897 Durkheim worked for more than fifteen years on L'Anne turning out hundreds of reviews notices and introductory sections.
