1Z-LTX6-CR4MThis is the HUGE OVERSIZED SLIPCASED it didn't fit in my scanner! two-volume hardcover only stated U.S. News Edition from 1975. Other than the slipcase is showing a bit of wear including a 3-inch split on the bottom that is easily taped both the covers issued without djs and the books are in excellent condition. There are no rips tears markings etc.---and the pages and binding are tight see photo. Note: All books listed as FIRST EDITIONS are stated by the publisher in words or number lines--or--only stated editions that include only the publisher and publication date. Description continued: . .the bay and what appears to be three tiny foreign sailing ships or man-o-war in the distance. In the foreground are Japanese soldiers & sentries as they look over the bay from their fort-like protected embankments as signal fires burn on. Some soldiers carry rifles. . S C A R C E The first Japanese etching shows a steeet scene with 18 va- rious Japanese in view most in traditional Kimono but 3 me men in modern western dress another in a modern military or police uniform. The second shows 8 Japanese in a western st- yle shoe shop one has a Geta on his right foot and tries a western boot of leather on his left foot while two modern dressed Japanese look on ohters in Kimono. The verso shows a map of the whole Nagasaki area locateion of British sloops. The article documents the arrival of the British Squadron in Japan and the visit of Sir James Stirling and suite to the Governor of Nagasaki.
