The edict proclaimed by Francesco Stefano di Lorena in 1743 to regulate the practice of the typographical activity in the grand duchy of Tuscany was definitely innovative and marked the beginning of an evolution towards that freedom of the press enjoyed today. The introduction gives way to a precise and well-documented excursus on the main characters involved in Tuscany in the second half of the 18th century. 1370 gr. vi-724 p.
