Original pale blue stapled wraps the covers printed in red ink internally printed in black. Arceneaux/ <i>Guidebooks to Sin </i># 10 a variant issue.</p><p>Wraps moderately toned & soiled corners creased slight edge wear brief foxing at early & late leaves otherwise very good.<br /></p><p>A delightful guide to "Storyville" the legally sanctioned red-light district of New Orleans. Provides lists and locations of some 573 "residents" and 45 "late arrivals." The ladies are categorized by ethnicity with separate lists for "white" "colored" and "octoroon." Additionally features 23 full page advertisements for brothels as well as advertisements for cabarets liquor cigars etc. Although not credited the Blue Books were compiled by Billy Struve manager of Thomas C. Anderson's infamous "Annex."<br /></p><p>Pamela Arceneaux notes that two versions of this edition were published which she considers to be one print run. The first example she describes is printed internally in red & black the other in only black. She further notes that the black ink example is bound with three staples rather than "the usual two seen in most issues."
