74973London: Rider and Co. 1933. Epic poetry FIRST EDITION IN ENGLISH first impression. Octavo 24 x 17cm pp.286 2. Publisher's dark blue cloth gilt titles to upper board and spine. Top edge blue. Title-page lettered in red and black. Moderate spotting to page margins and textblock edges. Spotting and offsetting to endpapers/first and last few leaves. A few light scuffs to boards. Mild edgewear. Very good. 'The Gesar of Ling Epic is the Iliad of Central Asia' is how David-Neel starts her text on this centuries-long tale. Told orally from the 12th century and earlier the Epic of King Gesar is still largely unknown to the West which the author attempts to change with this book. It is both an abridgement of the epic and a discussion of its importance. London: Rider and Co., 1933 unknown
