Illustrated with 200 action photographs. This copy has the bookplate of New York psychiatrist Dr. Dudley D. Schoenfeld a pioneer in the field of criminal profiling who was instrumental in solving The Crime of the Century. Just after Charles Lindbergh's baby was kidnapped and well before the arrest of Bruno Richard Hauptmann Dr. Schoenfeld was asked by the authorities to examine the ransom notes and other evidence. Dr. Schoenfeld was able to "construct" a profile of the person who committed the crime. While compilation of a psychological profile is common practice in criminal investigations today in 1932 it was ground-breaking. Dr. Schoenfeld conclusions that the ransom notes were likely written by a German man with a criminal past and that he was probably mechanically adept proved to be surprisingly accurate. . Owner blind stamp on front flyleaf. 1992 Trade Paperback. xxi 105 pp. "This lively autobiography first published more than thirty years ago and long unavailable is the result of a series of interviews Dodds taped with Larry Gara a few years before his death in 1959. With disarming candor Dodds recalls his remarkable music career which spanned more than four decades and took him from dance halls in New Orleans' famed Storyville district to gigs on Mississippi riverboats to venues in Chicago and New York. Dodds performed and recorded with some of the most famous musicians of the time - King Oliver Kid Ory Bunk Johnson Jelly Roll Morton Louis Armstrong and Sidney Bechet among others - and his recollections of these men and the music they created add much to our knowledge of the history of jazz. Dodds also talks about his own style and philosophy of music revealing himself as a serious and dedicated artists who placed a high value on craftsmanship versatility and originality and whose love of the world of jazz never waned. The front cover remains vivid with only faint surface wear; spine lightly rubbed at extremities but intact and unsplit. Interior clean with mild toning and a few small foxing marks at title page. Drawing on extensive excavations and early radiocarbon dating the authors document burial mounds artifacts and ceremonial sites that shaped later Woodland cultures. The work remains a key reference in American archaeology and an essential record of sites that have since changed or disappeared.

.
