"The exhibition of artists of Caucasian origin in Turkish art from Avni Lifij to date contains the works of 21 of these famous artists of Caucasian origin. People who had fought for their beautiful country Caucasia for many years and who had had to emigrate to Ottoman land starting from 1860s, had tried to preserve their original culture and traditions, which were also observed with admiration and praised in their work by travellers, soldiers, researchers and writers from many countries who had visited to Caucasians' fatherland hundreds of year ago. In the meantime, Caucasians have fought bravely in World War I and in War of Independence under the leadership of the great founder Ataturk in order to protect their new country and also contributed greatly to the culture, art, sports and political life by representing Turkey successfully in international arenas as well. Caucasian Cultural Association, Istanbul, which was established in 1952, like other Caucasian Cultural associations and foundations in Turkey, tries to promote and maintain authentic Caucasian culture with its language, music, folk dances, traditions and customs, thus trying to enrich the colorful and varied cultural wealth of Turkey.
