The books are interesting for both their content and for what 19th-century Friends felt were important books for religious education and thought. Many of the volumes are from the Janney family's library. There are duplicates of a number of Quaker books authored by the Janneys and some of the volumes have book plates or signatures from Phineas Janney 1778-1852 and his nephew Phineas Janney Jr members of Hopewell Friends Meeting in Loudoun Co.
