He is a descendant of the esteemed. Hüseyin through his father. He was brought up with private tutoring. He took lessons from Ipekli Tahir Efendi (father of Mehmet Akif Ersoy), Hasan Tahsin. Efendi (Clerk of Beyazit Library and the imam of Ali Pasa Mosque) and from Trabzonlu Hüsnü Efendi. He left Political School because of health problems. He continued with his lectures for some time at Law School and at Madrasah. He learnt Arabic, Persian and French and was interested in calligraphy and music.

The color is worn out, especially on the front board, but this is still an attractive item. H.D. Justi (1834-1922) became a manufacturer of dental supplies and false teeth shortly after his arrival in the U.S. around 1850. He devised new molds that allowed a colored veneer to cover the Vulcan rubber base. He presented his method to the Orum and Armstrong Tooth Co. which promptly hired him. Justi soon became a partner in the firm and bought out his partners in 1864 to form the H.D. Justi Co. Justi's dental appliance company became nationally prominent. Before his inventions, porcelain teeth were hand crafted for each patient. His techniques turned it into a more standardized manufacturing process. He soon opened a new large manufacturing space and dental supply shop, and in 1886 they built a large factory at 32nd & Spring Garden in Philadelphia. He revolutionized the false teeth industry. 220 p. + Frontis. Original blue cloth binding. Original dust jacket. Dr. John Alfred Brashear was born in 1840 at Brownsville, Fayette, County, Pa., southeast of Pittsburgh. He later moved to the Steel City, and despite the smoky skies so prevalent in his day, Brashear's love of the night sky never waned. Brashear built his first telescope in his South Side home in the early 1870s. His optical prowess is apparent even today - many of the telescopes he made still are in use around the world. Moreover, the one-time John Brashear Co. has evolved to become the Contraves Corp., an internationally known maker of superb optics. In its underground facility near Wampum, Pa., Contraves is working on the completion of the 8-meter mirror for the Subaru Telescope, to be installed in Hawaii. Brashear died April, 1920. His remains and those of his wife Phoebe are interned in the crypt beneath the Keeler Memorial Reflecting Telescope at Allegheny Observatory in Pittsburgh's Riverview Park. Brashear, a one-time director of Allegheny Observatory, is the man most responsible for its construction. The plaque in the observatory's crypt. reads: "We have loved the stars too fondly to be fearful of the night." PA 48 x4
