This is a First UK Edition of 1963 but has a small 1964 stamp at the foot of the title page. Grey textured cloth boards with black titling to the spine. In the original publisher's pictorial dustjacket which is not price-clipped. The Ex-Library Markings are the remnants of a few stickers/labels a 'Baroque Tales of Chile' sticker and the remains of old yellowed sellotape presumably where the old library cover had once been stuck to theendpapers with the latte being on both the front and rear endpapers. There are also library stamps to both endpapers and to the title page which also has a number written across it in black ink. The text is uniformly clean and there is some light edge-wear/rubbing to the dustjacket covers. The page fore-edges are very lightly 'tanned' more 'cream' really with a few light spots/marks but are generally clean. The dustjacket is now in a New protective clear - removable - bookfilm plastic cover and looks Very Good. There are no library numbers to either the d/j spine or to the d/j. There are NO inscriptions or other library marks in the text - only on the endpapers & title page as noted. 207 pp. Contents are : - 'The Virgin of Andacollo' - the legend of the miracle-working Virgin to whom the Indians dance for three days and three nights without ceasing. ; ' La Quintrala' - the most dreaded and sinister figure in the history of South America whose deeds woud have put the Marquis de Sade to shame. Together with 'The White Waltz'; ' Don Juan '; & 'Esmeralda'. Overall apart from the library 'faults' as detailed above this is a Tight and Secure Near 'Very Good' copy.
