A clean straight copy in beautiful condition apart from the sunned spine and half-inch perforation to rear endpaper by gutter: Very Good. <br /> <br /> Crane collaborated with Kate Lyon on this book ANB. She is reputed to have done much of the research and some of the writing. The mistress of author Harold Frederic Lyon socialized with Stephen and Cora Crane when they lived in Surrey at the turn of the century and Cora supported Lyon when she was charged with manslaughter after Frederic's death. She was acquitted. <br /> <br /> John Sloan was a member of the Socialist Party from 1910-14 an unsuccessful Socialist candidate for the New York State Assembly and the art editor of The Masses from 1912-16. WIKIPEDIA: Wallace was a U of MI grad with a library centered career but with major variations. After WWII he recovered V1 plans the Nazis had sunk in an Austrian lake. Shortly after he was an attachee with the American embassy in London. Later he was with Harvard's library during a period of great growth and served the international library community with advice & aid. Before all this he was with the William L Clements library from 1936-8 likely when he acquired this book. He helped set up the National Union Catalog the paper predecessor to WorldCat. . William L.
