I LIKE TO EAT RIGHT ON THE DIRT is made from photographs I have made of my own children four with a text of poems I have written for them. The poems are about refusing to eat camping out and our pets; "Che the hunter Terror of mice Does many things That are not very nice%u201D. Things like that. I have also put some color around the pictures to keep things cheery.I would only add this. I am almost certain that next year 1986 Aperture will re-issue The Bikeriders. At the same time my first feature length film WILLIE will be released. I think that the attention paid to these two works might help sell the children's book." NOTE: It would take Lyon four more years before he was able to release his children's book. 190417752New York: George Harjes Publisher 1904. Cloth. Very Good. WARMLY INSCRIBED BY THE AUTHOR CHARLES WILBUR DE LYON NICHOLS along the margins of his frontispiece portrait. A solid very presentable copy to boot of the 1904 1st edition of this uncommon look at the elite of America's gilded age . Bright and VG in its purple cloth with lightly-rubbed gilt-titling along the front panel very light wear at the spine ends and front tips and a bit of light spotting to the rear panel. Internally clean as could be with no writing or markings other than the author's wonderful inscription to speak of. Octavo includes official lists of "The 150" and "The 400" among the "ultra-fashionable peerage of America" as well as "a few appended essays on ULTRA-SMARTNESS". A nice piece of not only Americana but of turn-of-the-century American social and genealogical history. Records show that only 1 copy in 1913 has come to auction since its 1904 publication.

George Harjes, Publisher hardcover books

195021017New York: Harper & Brothers. Good in Good dj. c.1950. 1st Edition M-Y. Hardcover. NOISBN . ex-rental library book Guild Libraries Hollywood with attendant markings rubber-stamped terms on ffep a bunch of check-out dates on rear fep shelfworn with a bit of fraying at spine ends; the jacket is still attractive despite a few deprecations including tape-staining from internal repairs to rear panel an orange label remnant covering the bottom 2 inches of the spine a small chunk torn out of the bottom corner of the rear flap and a surface-scrape to the front panel that's somewhat obscured by the jacket design. Suspense novel set mostly in Monterey California about a newly-married woman coping with the in-laws from hell. Even before her baby was born "Hilda had already realized there was something wrong in the senior Trentons' household. And she slowly grew to understand what it was first in amazement then in anger finally in terror as the Trenton family closed in on her on her marriage on her child!" Yikes. The author's previous novel "The Frightened Child" was filmed by 20th Century-Fox as THE HOUSE ON TELEGRAPH HILL 1951; this one I guess was deemed a little too creepy for screen treatment. The "M-Y" printing code by the way translates to December 1949. . Harper & Brothers hardcover books
