Laid out in the form of a fourteen-page catechism of 28 points followed by 'Notes and Illustrations from Various Writers'. Pertinent as ever in its criticism of 'excessive inequality in the partition of wealth'. COPAC only lists three copies of the first edition of 1878. Behind her stands two white men. Text above title reads "Between two worlds--an unforgettable novel of love and fear." Alien Land follows a white-passing Black man as he experiences racism from both sides and navigates the Jim Crow South. At the end of the novel he reconciles with his mixed heritage and finds peace in an interracial marriage. The book received great acclaim; it is a powerful nuanced account of race in America. Book sustains stress crease from when it was read. Some rubbing to spine panel. Consistent toning throughout. Gutter is beginning to crack but still holding well. This rare pamphlet contains a report of military success in Flanders with a letter written by hero of the War of the Spanish Succession Prince Eugene of Savoy on 10 Dec. 1709 and a letter by Cardinal Grimani Vincenzo Grimani 1653-1710 an Italian diplomat and opera librettist best remembered for having supplied the libretto for George Frideric Handel's early operatic success Agrippina. As a diplomat in Austrian service Grimani had played a major role in the expulsion of the Spanish from Naples. An extremely scarce pamphlet from the War of the Spanish Succession no copies in Worldcat; 1 copy in OPAC SBN. 28739London: The Savoy Hotel. 1938. A folding advertising brochure opening out to a colour map of New York and London with pop-up elements illustrating The Savoy Hotel and the New York skyline. The brochure also includes adverts for Pan-American Airways and Imperial Airways 'flying boat' service on 'Caledonia' and 'Clipper III' travelling the distance between New York and London in just 24 hours. A second brochure 'What's on in London during 1938' is attached to the front flap with the original metal paperclip as issued. Condition is near fine with just a touch of rubbing to the extremities. A wonderfully designed and illustrated brochure inviting the reader to experience 'London's gay and cosmopolitan life'.
